MEETING MINUTES February 10, 1998

Meeting called to order by President Mark Hazen.

Old Business:

• Mark recapped the events of January’s meeting.
• Jim Coats gave a brief update of the NCAUG web site and requested we e-mail items to him and he will post them on the site within a couple hours of receiving them. Everyone should get their news, finds, and profiles into Jim on a regular basis.

Feb 17, 18,19 Mapping Conference in San Francisco at the Marriott’s Hotel. Jim Coats will be speaking on the 19^th.

March 25^th ICBO - International Building Codes conference, Costa Mesa, CA

How do we want to handle the refreshments issue? The members decided to have refreshments only when we have a specific party.

Newsletter time. We will put out a newsletter in April, please submit any info you would like included. Send articles to Mark Hazen or to Joe Marvin.

Reminder: To participate in the raffles you must be a member in good standing – dues paid.

The March meeting will host a Mechanical Desktop demonstration.

Tim Cory has a surprise demonstration for us. Bill Booth will contact Tim and set a time and place. We will e-mail the membership the time and date.

Tonight’s demonstration is by John Wilson of Safety On Site on MapTech a GPS program. It can be imported into AutoCAD and does a variety of displays and figures. All USGS benchmarks are in the files and all items have a list of associated data. The USGS has 22 states completed and on CDs. There are 19 CDs for the State of California and John carries the 5 CDs covering northern California. These maps can be viewed in ArcView, entities can be drawn over the topo and its data extracted. Survey data can be entered over the topo using bearing and distance. These maps have a lot of uses in the CAD environment.

John has CDs to give away tonight plus lots of good literature on the products.

Discussion followed and covered plotting, sending files via e-mail, inserting a block at specific data points, pasting text files into DWG files, etc.
