The next meeting will be on November 4, 1998 at 5:30 PM. Also, the first sub-group meeting will be on October 22, 1998 5:30 PM in conference room A at City of Redding office and will be on AutoCAD Map3. We encourage everyone to attend.
This meetings presentation was by Kelly Malone of Visio Corporation. He is the ADC marketing manager and gave a demonstration of IntelliCAD. Kelly has worked with Autodesk and Softdesk.
IntelliCAD uses the .dwg file extension, supports autolisp functions, has similar pulldowns as AutoCAD.
Can be used with ArchT by Kativ, see data sheets.
IntelliCAD supports multiple document interface, has a drawing explorer that can manage layers, linetypes. Layers and linetypes can be cut a pasted from one file to another. Similar layers keep current properties. Blocks are illustrated with a graphic. Osnaps are on the mouse button similar to AutoCAD.
Work can be done on a reference file in one window, the current drawing is open in a second window and a reload of the reference file will update the current drawing since multiple dwg files can be open with only one application.
New toolbars can be created; keyboard commands, aliases, macros, mouse buttons can all be customized. Also, AutoCAD menus and custom menus can be imported.
The render feature is not high detail/high resolution, but the shade, hide, mirror and reflect features work very well.
There are 100 applications available to use with IntelliCAD
.IntelliCAD does not support the .dwf format, ASA solids, or object ARX from Mechanical Desktop. It does support truetype fonts, uses 90% of the tools used in AutoCAD, runs lisps from Softdesk, uses bonus
utilities for AutoCAD, uses paperspace/modelspace and will open all .dwg format files. Also, it does not support the .pcp files yet.
IntelliCAD can be purchased for $349.00, comes with 90-day free support and addition support can be found on the web of call their 1-800 number. (see data sheets).
